From Divinity to Infinity: Notes for Our Sons

Of Kings and Queens who ruled the Nile..."1

To Our Black Sons:

We are the descendants of those Africans who chose to survive the horrors of the Great Disaster, The Maafa, and whose genetic spirit still resonates within the essence of all of us. Our ancient cultural wisdom teaches us that at the end of one’s  Earth journey begins the start of one’s Celestial journey. That it is the heart that is judged and not the head. The transferable lesson, left by our enlightened Ancestors, is that spiritual beingness is contained within the heart, weighed against Truth, Maat, recorded through eternity.What you do matters, not just here on Earth, but your divinity carries the possibility for your infinity.

Think deeply about who you are and from whence you come. First and foremost, you are the offspring of First World People: A people who regarded themselves as having existed before time itself existed. We are a People of the Sun who carry the full spectrum of all of the colors  that make for the "hue" in hue-manity. Royalty courses through your veins-- you are, in fact, the Beautyful ones we were waiting to be re-born.

You are the sons of Lions who were called: Asar; Heru; Imhotep; Ptah Hotep; Piankhi; Shabaka; Mustafa;, Shaka; Hannibal, Toure; Nkrumah; Dessalines; L’Overture, Boukman; Garvey; Delaney; Douglas; Blyden; Robeson; DuBois; Malcolm; Mandela; King; Clarke; Wright; Rogers; Wilson; Bennett; James; Jackson;, Woodson; Ben Jochannon; Cabral; Diop; Van Sertima; Afrik, Carruthers; Sithole; Thompson; Hilliard; Cummings; Lewis; Worrill; and legions of others.

We will discipline you by teaching you, not by preaching to you; by sharing experiences learned from our collective successes and failures. We will demonstrate our  unconditional love for you even when we are tired, frustrated, angry, exhausted and holding onto our patience, our tolerance, and our last nerve. We understand that your instinctive longing for belonging makes you vulnerable to situations that may involve gangs, cliques, sects, territorial tribalism, and chaos. We are One: you are us and we are you. Thus, we will  accept our responsibility to guide you along your pathways of becoming who and what you are destined to be.

Ourstory includes Empires, Dynasties and Kingdoms; You are not only the descendants of Kings, you  embody Kings. You must learn to love yourselves as you love, honor, revere and respect your mothers and fathers, your brothers and sisters and your kinsmen throughout the Diaspora. This love will carry over into an enduring respect for all, especially Black Women, the Queens who give birth to the Nation, inspire the Kings and share the throne.

See with the beauty of your inner eye and feel the vibrations of love, rather than the discords of hate. Flip the script and verbiage from being a DOG to becoming a GOD. Do all that you can to avert fratricide, mentacide, violence, conflict and the destruction of self via managed self mastery, self discipline, self knowledge, self efficacy and uncompromising self- determination. You must rise up and reclaim the knowledge of self to become future leaders, teachers, priests and prophets, engineers, doctors, scholars, lawyers, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, technicians and tacticians, soldiers of solidarity and cultural warriors of truth and righteousness.

I Peter 2:9 -10, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him that hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: (10) Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God which had not obtained mercy but have now obtained mercy”

We want you to know, Black sons, that we believe that you carry the light. And just as the light always gives hope to those living in the dark, we are calling you forth out of the darkness and into the magnificence of your divine light. Now is the time to (re)claim your excellence. Your lives matter.
